Each of the last eight years, I have run the Boston Marathon for the Boston Bulldogs Running Club and am honored to be once more running for this incredible community of people. I’ve been with the Bulldogs from the first run of the initial Chestnut Hill Chapter of the club and have embarked on hundreds of runs with fellow Bulldogs since those early days in 2015. To say the Bulldogs have given me so much throughout the years is an understatement. CLICK HERE TO DONATE or READ MORE Peggy Dupey

I've been a member of the Bulldogs since 2016 having been impacted by addiction, especially that of my brother Douglas who died by suicide after living with addiction and depression for years. This April will be the 13th anniversary of his death and I'm running to honor his memory and the memories of my Bulldog friends Sean Staunton and Joe Santangelo. I rediscovered my love for running after my brother Jordan passed away from an overdose in December 2020 at 33 years old, following his courageous 15-year battle with addiction. Jordan and I were extremely close since childhood, and I was looking for an outlet to channel my grief and be alone in my thoughts. I became interested in running the 128th Boston Marathon in Jordan’s memory and set out to find a BAA-approved charity that was specifically focused on providing support to those in recovery and their loved ones. I learned about the Boston Bulldogs Running Club and applied for a spot on their Boston Marathon team. I know that their unique approach to promoting wellness and providing a supportive environment for those in recovery and their families would resonate as strongly with Jordan as it does with me, considering how devoted Jordan was to his physical fitness through bodybuilding! I am running with the Boston Bulldogs to spread awareness of the transformative power of showing up, being transparent about how things are going, and putting in hard work with a group of like-minded individuals. It is my sincere hope that all who need it are offered the opportunity to find the Boston Bulldogs or something like it, I have been able to heal because of the Boston Bulldogs, and for that I am forever grateful. Having been witness to the undeniable link between addiction and mental health, I know the road to recovery should never be taken alone. Together, we can create a supportive and inclusive environment, reducing stigma and advocating awareness. If a loved one of yours has struggled or is struggling, I would be honored to run for them and carry their name or initials on my shoes or bib on race day. I’m thrilled to be part of the Boston Bulldogs Running Club for the 128th Boston Marathon, which will be my first time running Boston and will take place a few days after I reach one year of sobriety, by the grace of God. It feels so right that my first Boston Marathon will be with the Bulldogs. Since I joined, the club has become an essential part of my recovery; and my engagement in this community has allowed me to join my running with my recovery in a way that has strengthened my mind-body connection and has given me relationships that have truly changed my life.
